- phgruver: @bigbartabs $BA They can't build a single new 747 for the US government, but they can offer to build 160 new aircraft for Qatar...? I'm sure there's something, in this equation, that i don't know, but it leaves me scratching my head!
- rem2088: @phgruver $BA I recall reading the "deal" for the 2 "new" air force one's was to retrofit 2 planes that had been built but the customer didn't end up taking them. So, they need to be refit to be of air force 1 quality and equipment. So, not from scratch planes.

- debeers: $BA- So the Chinese are refusing some Boeing jets. Talk about insanity----The backlog is phenomenal becaue Ortberg and the goverment are not upping the number of planes to be released.just yet. So India drooled when they heard this: It took less time for them to eat lunch and they offered to buy them right away ASAP. Only surprised me that some design modification will probably be necessary. China doesn't usually jmake such bonehead moves because they will have to get at the end of the Airbus line now and they have backlog issues as well.

- joelsg1: $BA Closed those E-play call spreads for 40% gain. Don't trust these guys not to cock it up some more, and China is a customer. Note to self (which is what all these posts be), use much shorter dated call spreads for E plays and maybe generally in this treacherous buy the dip, sell the rip market. My old goal of letting the spreads fill and ride them to victory to expire with the spread profit won't work with this volatility.

Regarding fundamentals, I'm torn between it being the only game in town for a US company, vs. years of failed management and ideologies infecting the corporate culture. It could be a great turnaround story, but it needs to do what many companies in the US are now doing and clean itself up from the inside out, reject inefficiencies, and focus on it's core competencies. I'd like to see some evidence of a serious focus on that before I jump in. Now, before anyone gets too concerned, remember that Boeing ($BA) was dealing with a massive strike, and the southeast coast was ravaged by Helene and Milton. Still, this horrendous print gives the Fed reason to cut rates by another 25 bps (I serio ... - woodman: @PhilHarmonic $FTAI - Your comment has some validity ... if you are narrowly looking at the tiny sample of post-10/30 earnings trading action. Step back from the trees obstructing your vision and look at the chart. Looking at a weekly chart is helpful. What I see is a wonderful two-year chart with price going from lower left to upper right. That's what I like to see. Over this time, buying the pullbacks to the 50d on the daily chart has been money. And understanding that $BA's woes benefit FTAI also helps. Currently, it is consolidating within an intact uptrend.
- debeers: $META- If you are staying in for earnings here's what you are looking for when $META reports: 5.22/share up from 4.39 a year ago 40.2B revenue up from34.1B a year ago Zuck spent a small fortune on Nvidia chips and i think that they'll be worth it so I'll be in for the earnings. Also, i owe a big thank you to @Henry who said he got some $BA at 150. I threw up but it is very difficult for me to resist a duopoly--especially as the big money came in Also we are close to the number of days the other strikes have lasted.

- geotheo: @Onthemark $BA There is news they are offering a 6% preferred stock. If you are longer term you'd get paid 6% to wait. You get your $50 back per share if the stocks closes between 143 - 172 and more above 172 and less if stock is lower than 143 in 3 years.

The next 5 add another 22% and include $MCD and $V, then the next 5 add 23% for a total of 75% of the index. The bottom 25% of the index includes $DIS, $NKE, and $VZ. Who thinks our $DJI will charm with animated classics, send shoes to run away faster, or talk them to death? 🤣🤣🤣 BTW... $HON is 15th on the list contributing 3.17%, and $BA is 20th contributing 2.35% to the $DJI

BA's woes - something that's seemingly endless - benefits this company. Fewer new planes from Boeing means FTAI continues to benefit by servicing and leasing older ones.

- Lou: Thanks for the replies - my only move today was to go long a little $BA on the drop this morning. A contrarian move to be sure, but one has to look beyond the headlines and realize that it's an essential component in our defense industry and, IMO will put its quality control issues in the rearview mirror.

NASA said on Wednesday that astronauts delivered to the International Space Station by Boeing's(BA) Starliner could return on SpaceX's Crew Dragon in February 2025 if Starliner is still deemed unsafe to return to Earth.
